Queen Anne Handkerchief Table
American, possibly Portsmouth, NH, 1750-1780
A diminutive and delicate Queen Anne corner drop leaf table often referred to as a "handkerchief table." The table, when not in use, forms a triangular shape designed to fit easily into a corner, a gate leg supports the hinged leaf to form a square surface. This appears to be walnut and has red maple (by micro-analysis) as the secondary wood. A very scarce American form. Top re-set with associated plugged holes, refinished. Chipped rule joint.

30.5" x 30" top up, 26.5" tall
