Queen Anne Looking Glass
New England, c. 1720

Paint decorated white pine mirror with the original glass bearing engraved decoration of a swan, foliage and a moon with rays. The original backboard has never been removed and bears a painted geometric design and the name John Bonner in the center. There was a John Bonner of Boston from this period who drew a detailed map of Boston around 1722. Could be one and the same Paint almost completely gone, silver backing mostly gone but everything remains intact as made.
